As a company with headquarters in Toronto (a city of frequent flyers to Sunny Florida, among other warm destinations in the winter months) Homekin’s expansion down South came naturally. With ties to the southwest Florida city of Naples, it was an easy ‘yes’ to take on this client’s vacation home project.
After pairing our client with an interior design expert and armed with stunning views of Pelican Bay’s mangroves and the Gulf beyond as our backdrop, we got to work on creating a dreamy colour-saturated world that is the antithesis of city living up North.
Immediately upon entry into this spacious two-bedroom condo, you are struck with an abundance of light and the natural beauty beyond the balcony. Inspired by this, we wanted to bring all that colour and vibrancy indoors, with aquatic blues, vivid verdant greens and pops of yellow.
Our clients are both parents and grandparents who host family regularly so although we wanted to create a space that was sophisticated enough for adults, it needed to be family-friendly and functional. To do this, we anchored the space with a comfortable blue sectional and added a punch with custom Christopher Farr upholstered swivel chairs for additional seating and an elevated feel, while the green velvet ottomans, customized with a trim provide further seating without blocking views or access to the balcony.
Custom yellow and white Christopher Farr patterned drapes mimic the glorious endless sunshine and frame the stunning vistas, without detracting from them, while a Canvas Palm Tree sourced by our designers adds a whimsical flair. The scene is further enhanced by the addition of the Pineapple Table Lamp, fashioned from papier mache and metal with a tole shade, this lovely, sculptural light shimmers with a subtle gold top rub. The Babo Gold Accent Table exudes an air of sophistication; its antique gold finish lends it a timeless appeal. Completing the ensemble is the Calla Rug, handwoven in India by skilled artisans who have been weaving rugs for centuries. The dhurries are woven from 100% cotton, they are smooth underfoot and are double-sided, making them not only beautiful but also practical.
To the rear of the family room, lies a multi-purpose island. This is where our clients and family perch for meals, cocktails and work. It boasts a stunning blue stone countertop which we wanted to draw attention to with blue stools featuring a bamboo-style backrest.
An adjacent dining room is ready to host both guests and large family dinners. Although stylishly tropical with its Cole & Sons Hollywood Palm wallpaper designed by none other than Martyn Lawrence Bullard (a Kardashian go-to designer), it too was strategically designed. The dining chairs, though incredibly appropriate with their coral-design backrests, are also surprisingly functional and durable for family life with their wipe-clean vegan leather seats. A vaulted ceiling above the dining table was painted with colour-matched green from the wallpaper to set the stage for the stunning chandelier.
A generously proportioned second bedroom, allowed for a fresh and functional layout featuring coastal blues, greys and shades of white. Framed coral art pieces, nautical custom drapes with a deep navy blue trim and a woven patterned area rug add to the charm and comfort of this space.
