Although we are always thrilled with the prospect of any project, no matter how small, we can’t deny that we get especially excited when we have the opportunity to help transform an ENTIRE home!
This story, which takes place in a home on Glen Road, is particularly near and dear to our hearts though. The owner of the home is not only a Homekin client but also a client of our sister companies.
After purchasing the home with the help of The Penzo Team, our client proceeded to renovate from top to bottom with Urban Blueprint. While UB began the transformation onsite, we worked with our client virtually and off-site so that she could be move-in ready upon completion of construction.
Here are some of the before and afters, along with delicious little details pertaining to some of the furnishings, finishes and accessories…
Our story begins with the living room, a space that was well… a tad *yawn* originally. It lacked the elegant and feminine spunk of our client.
Armed with inspiration photos of Parisian pieds-a-terre-s we looked at colour combinations that felt interesting and would make a statement, while still being neutral and timeless. A swivel chair upholstered in a velvet that is camel-meets-sage green was paired with an off-white sculptural sofa and area rug with abstract lines. We then threw in a mauve-pink side table for a splash of unexpected but delightful colour!
A glass-top coffee table is a piece that is not only beautiful and functional but also strategic. With its see-through nature, it doesn’t way down the space or detract from the pattern of the carpet. Meanwhile, the off-kilter floor lamp in the corner mimics the rug’s pattern and adds height to the space.
Other small details include; sculpted candlestick holders on the mantelpiece, clear crystal and amethyst candle holders for some good vibrations, fuchsia agate coasters for cocktails, and a leopard-print AVF serving bowl, all of which are available for purchase online just below.
Although we have to give the majority of the credit to UB who did most of the heavy lifting in the kitchen, we can take credit for certain little details that added those necessarily finishing touches.
Four leather and brass bar stools not only complement the hardware but also serve as an incredibly comfortable seating solution for countertop dining, while the pendants we selected by Aerin Lauder look as though they were custom-made for this space.
For us, flowers are always a must so to display some seasonal blooms, our client opted for a textural black vase and distressed ceramic bud vases, which can be purchased online. The Moscato Marble Bowl, on the other hand, makes for an artful display of fruit.
Upstairs, you will find our client’s elegant and serene oasis. In order to add a little punch to the space, our client opted for the Brass Sphere Table Lamps (also available here online) at her bedside. Though these unique lamps are undoubtedly statement makers, their brushed finish softens the heavy geometric shapes and cast a warm glow when illuminated in the evening. On the end of the bed, a black and white throw anchors the space and is a cozy-conscious touch, constructed of 100% recycled materials.
Let’s face it, doing laundry is a necessary evil so when we have an opportunity to make the experience even just a touch more enjoyable, we are thrilled! In this client’s laundry room, we departed from the otherwise tonal scheme and decided to make a splash with Cole & Son’s Palm Jungle wallpaper for a cheerful atmosphere. Also in this pace, you can find a variety of our favourite products by The Laundress and Canadian Brand, La Vie Apothecary.
